Affect Energy Review | Where are the company in 2021?

Aside from the Big Six, there are a ton of smaller energy companies popping up all over the place nowadays. One of the more recent of these companies is Affect, which has been around for a few years now. The Brighton based company have a good reputation for getting good energy rates for their customers.

But with so many other energy companies out there, is it worth considering Affect Energy as the supplier for you? Or should you look for other options out there on the market? Well, we’re going to take a bit of a deeper look at the company.

It seems like Octopus are intent on taking over the market entirely, as they’ve had many acquisitions and partnerships in recent years, including deals with brands like M&S Energy and Co-op energy too.

That means that whilst Affect had a good reputation beforehand, with a big reputable brand like Octopus on board, things are only going to get better. As an energy supplier, Octopus are one of the brands pushing the former big six in the right direction, with a big focus on green renewable energy and lower energy bills at the end of each month.

Who Are Affect Energy?

Affect are one of the smaller energy companies in the UK, but that doesn’t mean to say that you should write them off. They’ve been around since 2016 now, and they have an increasing customer base of folks who are more than happy with their service. As mentioned above, they’re now with Octopus Energy, and they carried over their 20,000+ customer base with them.

Affect Energy are well known for their fixed pricing tariffs, with the majority of their customers being on a 12 month fixed contract that renews each year. This is typically the best option for the majority of people, as it’s going to be the cheapest price that you can get, plus you’re not fixed into any long term contract.

This isn’t the only tariff that the brand offer, and you can also check for variable rates too. However if you’re a new customer, you’re probably better off going directly to their parent company, Octopus.

What is Affect’s Customer Service like?

Affect’s customer service has been amongst the best that the smaller energy companies have had to offer over previous years. If you check on Trust Pilot, they have an average of 4.9 stars out of 5, even after the transfer to Octopus. So, they have one of the best customer service teams in the energy industry.

Can I use a smart meter with Affect Energy?

With brands like Affect, they’re already set up to work well with a smart meter. So if you have one installed already, this isn’t going to be a problem. However from another perspective, if you need a smart meter installed then they can do this for you as well.

Is Affect a good company?

Affect are known to be one of the better companies within the energy industry, as they have a solid reputation, and the brand has grown a lot in recent years. Grown so much in fact that they’ve not been acquired by Octopus, so you’d be better off looking at them if you want to know the company’s quality (though in short, they’re pretty reliable too!).

If you’re looking to switch supplier, then Affect Energy definitely aren’t going to be a bad choice. What’s more is that it’s very easy for you to switch to Affect too, so you won’t have the stay with the same supplier for ages until you can switch.

If you want to cancel your contract with Affect, then things are relatively straightforward. All you need to do is get in touch with them, and they can run you through the cancellation process.

As one of the better small companies within the energy industry, it’s no surprise that Affect have been bought buy a much bigger company. With an awesome customer service, the brand had grown and grown until it was time for another bigger company like Octopus to step in and add them to their growing portfolio, trying to take on the big six energy suppliers.
